HOME

2026

Seven years ago this month (August), I moved to Utah for college. It couldn't have been more different than Seattle, the place I lived for the first 18 years of my life. While there are great things about my new home ⎯ that’s not so new anymore ⎯ I miss Seattle constantly and dream of the day when I can move back.

I had the exciting opportunity to be in Seattle for 4 whole months this summer. My husband and I lived with family and I reconnected with old friends, making happy memories with people I love.

But as it happens, challenges arose. I was actually excited to go back to Utah ⎯ something that nobody ever thought they would ever hear me say. Despite the countless positive memories, I left Seattle feeling sad and disappointed that the summer hadn't lived up to my high expectations.

This photo project was planned before I arrived home, but it turned into something much more than it originally was. Instead of simply photographing meaningful places for the sake of personal documentation, I was able to reflect on the things I love about Seattle and the person it’s helped me become.

When photographing and editing these images, the memories and nostalgia flooded back. It reminded me of who I am. I rediscovered the type of person I want to be.
